Location:
Raja Dalip Singh Memorial Public School Halog (Dhami) is situated in Halog (Dhami) situated 26 kilometres (16 miles) west of Shimla, India.
There are many other buildings and facilities of interest, supporting both academic and non-academic activities. Specially the newly constructed building where all cultural programmes are regularly conducted. Around the campus are numerous playing fields, the latest addition is a Basketball Court.
Due to its relative isolated location, RDSMPS established itself in a self sufficient manner with its own kitchen, laundry etc. Today, communication is much easier, through e-mail and fax. Provisions are brought in times from Shimla and Chandigarh, as it is only an hour drive away. Shimla also provides easily accessible centers for cultural and educational activities. Improved rail links with Delhi also mean that the School now enjoys the best both the worlds – privacy and peace combined with modern links.
It is difficult to conceive how the imagination of Mr. Balak Ram Kapil may have first perceived that Dhami was to be the place for his new School. On a rural hilltop at 1600 meters, forested with oak and evergreens, RDSMPS has developed over some 9.8 acres and is now an historical landmark in its own right. To the north, on a clear sparkling morning, the panoramic view of the snowclad peaks of the Himalayas can be seen, while to the south are rolling hills leading down to the plains. Away from distractions of city life, RDSMPS’s interests are concentrated within this idyllic environment.
Sitting on a hill as it does, physical activity is the daily bread of life for students. While the breadth and scope of its buildings provide for every possible need – academic, sporting and pastoral. RDSMP still has magical spaces for repose and quiet, where students are free to sit and reflect.
Registration form & Entrance Exam:
Admission and Entrance Exams
All registered candidates are expected to participate in the entrance procedure. Offer of admission is based on merit rating and vacancy. The Merit Criteria also includes points from the Student Information Form which the parents are expected to complete. In this way the School tries to balance the emphasis on students entering school between pure academic capability and perceived potential.
Entry points:
As of 2007, we would admit children to Class III, IV and V. Our academic session begins from 1st April and ends on 31st December. Classes VI-IX are non-entry points and the very few vacancies are filled by merit alone. Parents may register their sons for these classes by special request provided the following is clearly understood: There are usually never more than two vacancies in these classes. That the boy must do well in the entrance procedure so that he can be among the top students on the merit list. The risk of rejection is more likely than not as admission is entirely vacancy and merit based.
If you are interested you may now apply for admission in March, the entrance test for which will be held in September. If, for example, your son is seeking admission to class V, then he has to prepare for the examinations using the frame of reference for admission into class V.
Test Criteria

There will also be a reading assessment and a verbal and non-verbal assessment to see if your child is prepared to cope with life in a residential school.
